ethics

I pledge to practice the highest standards of integrity and accountability, and to be a credit to my profession, my clients, and myself by adhering to the following commitments:

I will do no harm.

I will treat all clients as peers.

I will consider all clients naturally creative, resourceful and whole.

I will honor my clients’ vision – both with respect to doing and to being.

I will help to forward my clients’ action with ease and richly deepen their learning.

I will encourage clients to live theirs lives fully on purpose – exploring all options.

I will accurately represent my expertise/experience.

I will readily recommend different coaches when appropriate.

I will recommend stopping coaching when my clients are no longer benefiting.

I will clearly describe the terms of coaching relationships at the start.

I will neither guarantee nor imply outcomes.

I will offer no professional advice beyond my competence.

I will not break the law for my clients.

I will assume client information is confidential, unless specifically authorized.

I will obtain client authorization before using their name as a reference.

I will further my professional education throughout my career.

I will strive to enhance the public understanding of the profession of coaching.

I will treat all members of the coaching profession with honor and respect.

I will freely share my competencies with colleagues working to upgrade theirs.

I will acknowledge the contribution of others – honoring copyrights, etc.

I will acknowledge my membership in The International Coach Federation.

I will inform my clients of my adherence to the ICF Standards of Conduct.

I will avoid conflicts of interest – will deal at arm’s length, or disclose otherwise.

I will honor all my agreements.

I will revisit this list regularly throughout my career.
