what is coaching?
Coaching helps clients to turn their possibilities
into probabilities.
Because coaches view their clients as creative,
resourceful, and whole, the coaching relationship
is between equals. Coaches don’t have answers.
They have questions.
Most coaching clients set and reach better goals.
Most coaching clients get “there”
quicker – with less effort.
Most coaching clients do more than they would
do alone.
how does your coaching work?
Most clients begin with an exploratory chat and/or
sample coaching session - either in person or
by phone depending upon mutual convenience.
Next is a 2-hour intake - in person or by phone.
At the intake, we begin to craft our partnership
– clarifying how you intend to experience
your life…creating logistics…and getting
more comfortable with each other.
The last step is our weekly 30 or 45 minute telephone
sessions to maximize your positive, sustainable
growth. Our mutual candor will elicit trust between
us. You and I will only chat for these few minutes
- the real “coaching” happens in the
other 10,000 minutes of your week.
what does a coaching session typically look like?
Like a sports coach, I’ll encourage you
to own what worked, and what didn’t. What
might you do differently? Where do you sabotage
yourself? In addition, we’ll look at who
you are, and who you intend to become. This mixture
of choosing what to do and who to be will vary
from session to session. Both you and your intentions
will evolve.
I rarely offer advice, and when I do, I’m
never invested in whether you follow it. I might
toss out an idea. You get to choose what you do
with it.
Know that I’ll go anywhere in service of
your agenda. Occasionally one of my questions
will make you squirm – that’ll be
our roadmap. Given the fact that change is here
to stay (with or without coaching), why not have
an ally whose main function is to be by your side
as you navigate that change? But don’t forget,
it’s your life. We’ll expect YOU to
own it.
how much will coaching cost?
The fee for 2-hour intake is $500.
Monthly coaching fees are:
$500
for four 30 minute sessions, or
$750 for four 45 minute sessions.
Billing is invoiced monthly in advance. Payment
is due on the 1st of each month. Clients may pay
their bills automatically by credit card or by
check.
Any client who is not satisfied with our coaching
will be granted a 100% refund.
A limited number of partial scholarships are
available – based upon need.

how does coaching differ from therapy?
One of my clients was stuck for years making the
same mistake in business. With coaching he broke
the pattern. “That’s what I love about
coaching,” he said. "Your help got
me to change. Some day maybe I’ll go to
my therapist to figure out why I was so planted
there. But for now, I’m just happy to have
changed!"
Coaching is about making your intentions more
probable. It focuses on the present and the future.
What will it take to get there? Not an expert,
a coach will be your colleague -partnering with
you to help stay focused on what you really want..
Although there are many similarities, therapy
usually relies upon the expertise of the therapist
to diagnose, treat and cure emotional distress.
Therapists often design treatment plans that look
more at the past to uncover the whys.
If I sense that a coaching client might be better
served by therapy, I will raise the issue …and,
if needed, recommend a therapist.
Revisit my web site from time to time. I intend
to continue this inquiry.
how do we get started?
Call me at 215-735-5050 or email
roy@royfriedman.com
to get more information. Set up a free 30 minute
coaching session to get some sense of what it
might be like. If it feels rights, we’ll
schedule a 2-hour intake session where we will
explore more of the coaching choices. Our intention
is to design a relationship that best serves you
– your style, your inclinations. Then we
will schedule your weekly 30 or 45-minute telephone
sessions. It’s as simple as that.
Occasionally the "fit" isn’t
there. Perhaps coaching isn’t the right
path for you. Perhaps a different coach would
better fit your intentions. I know dozens of really
accomplished coaches scattered around the world,
and would be happy to refer you to one.
